India's first 3D TV serial to be dubbed in Mandarin and Korean

India's first 3D television serial "Mayavi" will be dubbed in Mandarin and Korean languages to be telecast in China and South Korea. Produced by G.V. Films Ltd, "Mayavi" got the Jury's Special Award at the Seoul Global TV Drama Awards in South Korea last month. The serial is also the first Indian entry to win the award.
"The award has attracted a couple of Chinese and Korean channels. We have been approached by them for dubbing rights," V. Ravee, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, told reporters here Thursday.
While many doubted the success of a 3D serial, the 26-episode serial in Tamil shown by Jaya TV evoked good viewer response.
As 3D programmes are to be viewed through a special set of glasses, Jaya TV and G.V. Films efficiently completed the daunting task of distributing around nine million special spectacles priced at Rs.6.
Now "Mayavi" dubbed in Malayalam is being shown on Kairali TV. Negotiations with a Telugu channel for dubbing in that language are already over. In addition, talks are in progress to telecast the serial in other languages like Marathi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Bengali and Hindi.
