Tirlok Malik's show nominated for NY Emmy Award

Indian American actor-filmmaker Tirlok Malik's television series "Namaste - I Love Making Films in New York" has been nominated for a New York Emmy Award.
The nomination in the Historical/Cultural category focuses on Indian filmmaking and Malik's series was shown on WNET, Channel 13, which is a non-commercial television station, as part of the programmes "Setting the State" and "New York Voices".
"It's a proud moment for all Indian American filmmakers and actors in New York," said Malik in a press release.
He has been making films on Indian American themes for over a decade and has produced as well as acted in some internationally acclaimed movies such as "Lonely in America".
The NY Emmy is awarded by The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NY NATAS). Winners will be announced at the 50th annual Emmy awards April 1.
Apart from Malik, the segment also features many other Indian American filmmakers and actors, including Pooja Kumar, actor Ranjit Chowdhry, DJ Rekha, producer Chander Malik as well as media personalities, including Sree Sreenivasan of SAJA. Indo-Asian News Service
